Snapshots of ME!

I heard mommy and daddy talking yesterday about how much I have 'blossomed'. Not too sure what that word means. But they kept talking and I heard nice words like miracle, cute and amazing.

They sometimes think I am not listening but I hear it all. Here are few other things I have over heard being said between mommy and daddy:

  • Mommy will be away this weekend for the very first time without us. I can't wait! I mean I will sure miss her!
  • They are talking about maybe adopting another son or daughter. I say bring it on! Except I still want to be the oldest!
  • As of tomorrow I will no longer be able to watch the movie Shark Tale. They say I talk about it too much.
  • I'll be taking swimming lessons next week. They said if they tell me now I'll be asking every 2 minutes when I'll be going. What's wrong with that?
  • Daddy was not impressed with mommy accidentally shaving my hair off. Mommy said lucky I'm young enough not to know how short it is. But I do know how short it is. My head is cold!
And they think I'm not in the loop!

Super Capes for Super Kids

I was reading little red appleton's blog a few weeks ago and immediately was wowed by the Super Hero Cape she featured.

Jessica, the owner of the *Etsy shop
little red appleton, handmade me these capes for the boys. I was so impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship that I had to post it here. You'd never find anything this cute and so well made in a big chain store.

When Super Hero James put his cape on he immediately said, "I can now fly in the sky!"

Super Hero Parker on the other hand said, "Off! Off!".
But Speedy Mommy was able to snap a picture before he took it off!

Children's Adoption Books

My cousin recommended this book to me. She suggested I take it out from the library but when I read it at Chapters I got all teary eyed so I knew had to buy it.

There are a lot of adoption books for kids. I wonder how many there where 30 years ago? Back than adoption was so hush hush that I would guess there where no books touching this subject.

We talk openly about James' story of how he was born in our hearts. We have a few books for the boys on adoption. I want them to know that there are different types of adoption and to see every child has an unique story on how they were 'born' in a family.

I dedicate this post to my lovely sister-in-law who passed away suddenly on August 18th. Melanie was adopted too. She was 27.

LOANS THAT CHANGE LIVES

A few months ago I joined KIVA* after reading Bill Clinton's book: GIVING: How Each of Us Can Change the World.

I made a small loan to
Salmome Mwakipesile in Tanzania to open a beauty salon.
She is 29 years old and has 3 children.
To date 86% of her loan has been repaid.

I made a small loan to Boeung Sobin from Cambodia to buy pigs for her stand at the market.
She will breed the piglets.
To date 42% of her loan has been repaid.

The funds are credited to my Kiva account once the loan is repaid in full.
At that time, I can withdraw these funds from Kiva or re-lend these funds to a new entrepreneur.

I am inspired by these women and I am impressed that via the internet we can touch someone's life.
